The 70 women who attended the Grundy County Memorial Hospital (GCMH) Foundation's Luncheon and Card Party April 24 in Reinbeck raised $2,081 for the Foundation's health care scholarships. The luncheon guests heard from hospital CEO Brian Kellar about the importance of encouraging area students to pursue health care careers because of projected shortfalls in nursing and other health care careers over the next decade. Theresa Borcherding, RN, one of the seven 2013 scholarship recipients, spoke on the benefits that the financial support provides local health care students.
All proceeds from the card party benefit the GCMH Foundation Health Careers Scholarships. Nine scholarships will be awarded for the 2014-2015 school year. Scholarship applications are due to the Foundation by May 31, 2014. For eligibility requirements or more information about the GCMH Foundation Scholarship fund, please contact Erin Schildroth, GCMH Community Outreach Coordinator at 319-824-4147, or visit the Foundation section of the Hospital website at www.GrundyCountyHospital.org.
