The Emergency Department of Grundy County Memorial Hospital is among health care providers from across the country recently recognized as top performers. The 2012 Summit Award recognizes hospitals that sustain the highest level of performance in meeting patient satisfaction for three or more consecutive years.
For GCMH, it's the third year that the Emergency Department has received the recognition.
Emergency Department manager JoDee Knox says that receiving the Summit Award affirms the caring and concern of each department member, whether it's physicians, nurses, or registration staff. "We are pleased and honored that our patients feel this strongly about the quality care they receive in our Emergency Department," says Knox. Emergency Department Medical Director Lenard Kerr, DO, credits the ability of the staff to work together, along with the support of hospital management, for creating an environment that results in high patient satisfaction levels. Dr. Kerr has worked at the GCMH Emergency Department for the past six years.

Press Ganey awarded a total of 108 Summit Awards for 2012, out of more than 10,000 hospitals whose patient surveys are evaluated by the company.
The GCMH Emergency Department is staffed by providers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The hospital's Emergency entrance is accessible from 1st Street in Grundy Center, one block south of Iowa Highway 175E on the east side of Grundy Center.
