The Scouting Scoop Cub Scout Pack 327 and Troop 27 are alive and well

December 5, 2019
Reinbeck Courier

In all, there are 18 boys and girls in our Pack and Troop. Thank you to the adults who have stepped up to help and to Peace Church as our Chartering Organization.

We have hit the scouting trail running! These first few months have been getting acquainted with the Scouting principles by learning the Motto, Scout Law and the Scout Promise. The Pack has earned their Bobcat badge and a few of the other rank belt loops. The Troop has been practicing their knots and team building. The troop also participated in a Merit Badge Clinic at Hawkeye Community College. Their merit badges will be presented at their Court of Honor after the first of the year. Both the Pack and Troop participated in a night of service by signing Christmas cards for our community helpers, packaging socks for the schools and sorting/packing our travel size items for the food pantries.

With the turn of the calendar, we look forward to outside camping adventures, the pinewood derby, games, fun, new learning opportunities and developing our leadership skills.

Thanks to the Gladbrook Community Foundation and the success of the Popcorn Sale, we have been able to provide a quality program for our youth. It is never too late to join scouts. The Troop (6th Grade and up) meet on the first and third Thursdays at 6:30 pm. The Cub Scouts (Kindergarten through 5th Grade) meet on the second (as a den) and fourth (as a pack) Thursdays at 6:30 pm. All groups meet at Peace Church.
