21st Annual Miracle on Main Happening Next Week

November 7, 2019
Reinbeck Courier

On Friday, November 15, Reinbeck's Main Street will once again be buzzing with the sights and sounds of Miracle on Main! But this year, get ready for a new and exciting take on our annual celebration, as it will happen over the course of TWO days on Friday, November 15 and Saturday, November 16. It's THE GREAT SANTA SHAKE-UP!

The main focus of The Great Santa Shake-Up is to provide shorter wait times for our smallest guests to see the big man, Santa himself! This year, Santa will "drop in" on the Friday evening festivities. In fact, you might be surprised where you see him! Strolling Main Street, riding the horse-drawn trolley or ho, ho, holding down the fort at local businesses are all possibilities! Kid Central will still be OPEN FOR BUSINESS on Friday night, however, Santa will NOT be sitting down for pictures.

But not to worry, little ones will still get a chance to sit with Santa. We invite you to join us on Saturday morning for breakfast and Santa visits at the Memorial Building from 8-11AM! The Reinbeck Park Board will be serving a hot and delicious breakfast for a free will donation. While children wait for their turn to see Santa, they can write him a letter, have some breakfast, and even snap a picture! We're excited about the relaxed atmosphere on Saturday morning and the opportunity to visit before naptime - more fun for everyone!

On Friday night, businesses will be buzzing with open houses and prize drawings all evening long, as well as some food and drink specials. If you're strolling down the street, find something around every corner. Stop by Bill Davis Park and enjoy the festive holiday decorations, take a ride on the horse-drawn trolley, and make sure to get your tickets for The Great Santa Shake-Up 50/50 Raffle!

If you're a kid, or a kid at heart, be sure to make your way to Kid Central at the Memorial Building for the always-popular crafts and carnival games, a Lego building station, and a photo booth!

Your sELFie game had better be strong on Friday, as all Miracle guests will want photos with Ana and Elsa, our "wandering elves," and any other special "characters" you might find around Main Street! Superheroes? Giant cookies? Find them all and get a real keeper of a photo for your Christmas mantel! Use the Miracle on Main Snapchat filter for an extra festive shot!

If music is your "jam," be sure to have your ears open for the Gladbrook-Reinbeck High School chorus students, caroling around town for the entire evening! They may serenade you at the soup supper, provide a tuneful trolley ride, or reach new octaves inside a business open house. Lincoln Savings Bank will once again host the Christmas Tree Walk, where you'll be able to enjoy music, decorated trees, and the annual Memory Tree celebration.

5th through 8th graders have a few activities catered just to them at Miracle, a beanbag tournament hosted by Cooley Sanitation and a Dance/Fun Night at the G-R Elementary later on in the evening! Proceeds from the dance will be given to the Reinbeck Food Pantry.

We're hoping for fantastic weather for The Great Santa Shake-Up, but if it's a little chilly, fear not! The Soup Supper hosted by the UCC and sponsored by LSB will be serving up steaming bowls starting at 5:00. Swing by the Fire Station for some hot chocolate to warm your hands, and don't forget to enjoy one (or more) of Iowa's finest wines at our five wine tastings!

Get ready to follow the picture clues and find fabulous prizes in our third annual Miracle Drop. Keep an eye on Facebook for photos hinting at the location of the Miracle Drops, and be the first one to find the drop to win what's inside! Look for a new clue every 15-20 minutes!

Since our time with Santa has been shaken to Saturday morning, a few other events will extend into the afternoon and evening on the 16th. Look for signature drinks and specials from local businesses, including a Wine and Canvas painting event with Marion Boyer. There will be limited availability, so reserve your spot early! With a celebration this big, we need two nights to contain all the fun!

If all these holiday happenings have you hankering to help out, WE HAVE A SPOT FOR YOU! The Miracle on Main committee is still looking for volunteers for various jobs throughout the evening, especially craft helpers at Kid Central! Contact us on the Miracle on Main Facebook page if you're interested in being part of the event a volunteer!

We hope you'll join us for The Great Santa Shake-Up, our very special 21st Miracle on Main celebration! Look for a detailed schedule of events around town SOON. See you next week for two days of fun for the ho, ho, whole family!
