10 YEARS AGO NOV. 6. 2008 G-R senior Zach McCarthy is raising money for a fence and playground equipment at the Reinbeck Pre-School. Girl scout Troop #403 donated and volunteered at the Northeast Iowa Food Bank for “Make a Difference Day” on Nov. 1. Elizabeth A. Block, 82, Reinbeck, died Nov, 1 at Parkview Manor. G-R cheerleaders place first in Iowa Cheerleading at State championship.

20 YEARS AGO NOV. 5. 1998 Ken Kenyon and Steve McHenry presented a check for $500 to Bill Davis for his Eagle Scout project on Main St. Miracle on Main will be Nov. 13-14 with down town Christmas open houses. Emma Creswell celebrated her 106th birthday on Nov. 5. Mr. & Mrs. Ken Myer, Oskaloosa are parents of a daughter born Oct. 7. Wm Hood, 70, Morrison, died Oct. 27 at Grundy Center long-term care unit. Harry Smith, 82, Waterloo, died Oct. 31 at his home. Marion Squire, 90, died Oct. 29 at the Western Home in Cedar Falls. 30 YEARS AGO NOV. 10, 1988 Rhonda Weber & Chris Heerkes were married Oct. 1. Danette Sadler & Gary Nelson were married Oct. 8. Walter Schneider, 75, Reinbeck, died Nov. 2. B.L. (Les) Marts, Dike, died Nov. 1. Kevin Plaehn, 28, San Diego, CA. died Oct. 24. Jane Gerke, 54, Holland, died Nov. 3. Arthur Lawrence, formerly of Reinbeck, died Nov. 2. 40 YEARS AGO NOV. 16, 1978 Ralph Smith, 98, Reinbeck’s oldest resident, celebrated his birthday on Nov. 10. Reinbeck Theatre Guild has chosen a murder-mystery comedy “The Murder Room” for their 1978 play production. Funeral services for W.H. “Jack” Harris, 81, were held Nov. 13. Isabelle Claussen will celebrate her 94th birthday on Nov. 7. Wm. Ward, brother of Henry Ward, was buried in Waverly on Nov. 14.

50 YEARS AGO NOV. 14, 1968 Holiday drawings will begin Nov. 22 and run thru the week of Christmas. Roger DeWolf has purchased the former Dr. Homer Hake building and is looking for an occupant. Mr. & Mrs. Neal Conradi will celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary on Nov. 24. Gloria Blackman & Gary Mohr were married Nov. 2. Doug Ladd, 17, formerly of Reinbeck, will serve a three year sentence at the Men’s Reformatory in Anamosa. Ladd plead guilty to a charge of conspiracy. Mr. & Mrs. Russell Lorenzen are parents of a daughter born Nov. 9.
