Pictured is Dr. Jim Kenyon, retired veterinarian from Cedar Falls, along with Cathi Burnett from Westview and Janet Slessor from the Reinbeck Library. The library held a book talk by Dr. Kenyon at Westview on Feb. 6. He has written two books, The Art of Listening to the Heart and A Cow for College which are both available at the library. Check them out for enjoyable stories of animals and farm life in the 1950s.

Saturday, February 3 was National Take Your Child to the Library Day. We had great program attendance at the special story time event held that morning. Readers were Pete the Cat, The Cat in the Hat, Cinderella and Granny from Little Red Riding Hood. Children attending received balloon animals (or other balloon creations such as swords), made by Darrel Anderson of Waverly. Richard Ohrt memorial money helped to make this event possible. Children in grade six and under who came to the library any time that Saturday received a free book.

We had 100 book bags and notepads made up with our library centennial logo on them. These will be given away, and you have a chance to get one! 100 golden tickets have been hidden around the library. If you find a golden ticket, turn it in at the desk and you will receive a bag and a notepad (one set per person). Bonnie Shinn was the first lucky winner, finding a ticket in a magazine.
