Dear Editor:

I am writing to you to state my opinion about the dissolution of the Gladbrook-Reinbeck School District. I do not live in the school district, however I am a senior at GR this year. I would like to say that I do not think that the district should dissolve. This school has done wonders for many students through the years.

If it wasn't for the staff here at GR, I, myself, would not be graduating on time, but I am graduating early because of the dedicated and persistent teachers. They have challenged me and pushed me to improve as a student: to complete my work, raise my grades, and increased my motivation to actually go to school, when I didn't think I could graduate with my class. My mother passed away two years ago and this dramatically impacted my success in school. If not for them I would have given up completely. I soon started to do my homework, get class work done, and improve my grades in a snap. I know for a fact that there are many years ahead that these teachers and other staff can help other students. They truly care about the students, not just the money they get from working with us.

This school is not just good for the students, but also for the community. This school district provides activities for the kids in this community. This school has a major effect on students, and not just their grades. This school helps students become an adult and help them to get through their personal problems as well. This school provides wonderful services that are unique to this community. They provide counseling service, which the town itself does not have, they help students prepare for college, and they have sports and fine art programs as well. Would you really want to take that away from everyone here in this community? We are one community, we should all take part and vote to keep this school district together. Not just for our sake, but for the parents and other members of this community.
