Parkview Manor offers Meals on Wheels program.

There were two fly-overs during the 4th of July parade in honor of Army Spec. Travis Vaughn who died in Afghanistan earlier this year.

Oakleaf plans 50 year event to be held this fall.

Jean Junge will celebrate her 80th birthday on July 8 with an open house at Westview.

Lydia "Dee" Warfel, 87, Cedar Rapids, died at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids.

Helen McCommons Beeston, 91, Des Moines died June 24 in West Des Moines.

All plans are complete for the 4th of July celebration.

Mr. & Mrs. Brian Sienknecht, Washburn, are parents of a son born June 18.

Roger Petersen, 81, Dike, died June 20 at Sartori Hospital.

Alfred Krull, 81, Wellsburg, died June 22 at the Eldora Hospital.

Valdorene Eiffler, 66, Reinbeck died June 23.

Megan Stull placed 5th in 4x400 race at Luther College.

Cedar Valley Hospice sets July 11 for their 5th Annual Friends of Cedar Valley Hospice bike ride fund raiser.


JULY 2, 1987

Delta Industries began production last week.

Paula Lovell has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship by the Cargill Foundation.

Kimberly Brandt and Dan Tschirgi were married May 23.

Reinbeck Theatre Guild presents Oliver on July 2,3,& 4.

Traci Maifield and Roger Beenken were married June 26.

Gary Kazragis, Reinbeck, has been appointed to the committee of Criminal Law at the Iowa State Bar Association.


July 7, 1977

Larry Smith, Morrison, is opening a new tire repair service on corner of 175 and Commercial St. in Reinbeck.

Jana Downey, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Sheridan Downey of Gladbrook, was crowned 1977 Little Miss Reinbeck.

Reinbeck Firemen received a check for $6,500 from funds left from the Reinbeck 1976 Centennial celebration. With this contribution the firemen are within $3,000 to pay for the new emergency unit.

Mr. & Mrs. Clark Wood, Traer, are parents of a daughter born June 22.

Donna Middleton of Grundy Center and Curtis Ramundt of Beaman were married June 25.

A large cement mixer owned by Moeller & Walter overturned in a ditch 4 1/2 miles east of Reinbeck losing an entire load of cement and doing more than $25,000 damage to the truck & mixer.

A train derailed on July 1 resulting in $25-30,000 damage to a diesel-electric locomotive. It occurred south of the Jared Owen farm in Black Hawk County.

Sandra Whitcomb, Des Moines, & Richard Dirks were married June 17.

Rev. David Splett was installed pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church on July 10.


JULY 5, 1967

Mrs. Roy Thomas of Wichita, Kan. is the new anesthetist at the Grundy Hospital.

Sheryl Persinger is Grundy Co. 1967 Dairy Princess.

Mr. & Mrs. Wilson Gene Barker are parents of a son born June 23.

Dale Fairbanks & Marlin Siekfen were injured when Siefken who was driving Fairbanks 1957 Ford lost control when a rod broke. The auto rolled several times at the south edge of Reinbeck.

Connie Crouch, 28, Gladbrook, was killed in a two car accident on Hwy #96 west of Gladbrook. Gary Bazel, 17, Vining, was the driver of the auto.

Russell Mastain, 61, died July 3 at his home of cancer.

Mr. & Mrs. Wendell Smith, Gladbrook, are parents of a daughter born June 21.

Mr. & Mrs. Roy Keller, Jr. Buckingham, are parents of a daughter born June 23.

More than 400 people rode in the helicopter during July 4 celebration.

Estate of Viola Mooty has started legal action against the Grundy Co. Hospital, Mrs. Ralph Arnold, Dr. Russell Gerard and Dr. J.E. Rose seeking $180,677 for the untimely death of Mrs. Mooty.
