BEAMAN - The BCLUW baseball team scored nine times in the bottom of the sixth inning to blow open a one-run game and beat Gladbrook-Reinbeck by the mercy rule, 17-7, in Friday's NICL West Division pairing.

The Comets (8-3, 4-0) notched their seventh-straight win by rallying from a 7-2 deficit with six runs in the fifth and another nine in the sixth. Relief pitcher Calob Keller was the beneficiary of all the offense, getting the win for his two innings of work. Keller and starter Logan Mann combined to strike out 11 over six frames.

Mann hit a solo home run among his two hits for the Comets. Keller added a pair of two-run singles to finish with four RBIs, while Troy Dolphin doubled twice. Jack Garber and Ian Showers both had two hits as well for BCLUW.

Reliever Joe Smoldt got the loss on the mound for G-R. Smoldt led the Rebels with three hits, including a double, while Tyler Tscherter and Bronson Wrage both had a single and a double.
