Fredsville Church continues musical tradition

Fredsville Lutheran Church, a congregation in rural Grundy County is continuing a relatively new tradition. While many churches prepare special seasonal programs, Fredsville will be presenting it's 5th musical in the past 6 years at Easter time.

When Pastor Lisa Dietrich accepted the call at Fredsville in 2011, the church was struggling with special Christmas and Easter programs. As it turns out, in her "former life" Lisa Dietrich was very close to earning a Masters Degree in Theatre Directing. When vocal music teacher and congregation member Jean Loger retired from teaching in 2012 the suggestion of collaborating on a musical project seemed perfect! The excitement of such a project was well received by the congregation and over the years approximately 75 people have participated. The many, many hours of rehearsal and preparation along with props, scenery, costumes, dance, sound and visual graphics have helped tell Bible stories and complete the spiritual and theatrical experience.

Six cast members (Pastor Dietrich, Annemarie Goldhorn, Jean Loger, Linda Nielsen, Meridith Sandlin and Helene Wertz) along with sound technician Jeff Sandlin (KWWL newscast director) and the senior choir will present "It's All Because of Jesus" as part of the church's Easter celebration. Special outreach performances include Saturday, April 15 at 10:00 a.m. at New Aldaya Lifescapes and 2:00 p.m. at Western Home's Windhaven facility. Two performances will be held at Fredsville Church on April 16 at 9:30 a.m. and Sunday, April 23 at 1:30 p.m. The public is welcome at any performance. Information can be confirmed on the church's website and Facebook page.
