GRUNDY CENTER From a year's worth of car care to a family vacation, from a signed Green Bay Packer's football to box seats for the Minnesota Vikings, there's something for everyone at the upcoming Gala & Auction to benefit the Grundy County Memorial Hospital Foundation. The event supports the renovation and Specialty Clinic expansion project underway at the hospital.

The Foundation's Gala & Auction is Saturday, February 11, 6:00 p.m., at the Grundy Center Community Center, with a theme of 'Cruising Through the Decades." The evening includes social hour, fine dining, and silent and live auctions, plus a raffle of a five-day Caribbean Cruise. "Whether you're a theatre or sports fan, want a fun birthday outing for your child, or are planning vision-correcting LASIK eye surgery, local businesses have been extremely generous with their gifts to the auction," remarks Foundation events coordinator Erin Schildroth. "Our volunteer committee of Kelly Dinsdale, Kate Durbin, Rhonda Samo, Cindy Simms, and Deb Wentzein is planning a fun evening and the public is invited to purchase tickets to attend," says Schildroth. Tickets for the gala & auction are available by contacting Schildroth at or 319-824-4147. Raffle tickets may also be purchased to win the Caribbean Cruise or a specially designed fine jewelry piece from Facets in Waterloo.

More than forty-five silent auction items will be on display in the hospital lobby for bidding from January 30 February 9th, and raffle tickets can be purchased at the hospital as well. Raffle winners do not need to be present at the gala to win. Live auction items will be bid on the night of the gala, including the LASIK Eye Surgery, a Black Hills Family Vacation, the Vikings tickets, a riverside dinner party, Hawkeye football package, a resort vacation, a child's motorized farm vehicle, a weekend romantic getaway, and a Sweetheart package featuring fresh flowers and treats for a year.
