News from the Black Hawk Nighthawks 4-H

January 15, 2017

On Wednesday, December 7th, the Black Hawk Nighthawks 4-H Club gathered for a baking day & gift exchange at Indulge rather than having a regular meeting during the busy holiday month. The club members baked and decorated cookies to take the Westview Senior Living. Some members prepared the sugar cookies while others frosted them (with great assistance from Glenda Billerbeck). No school that day due to a teacher in-service allowed all of the club members and a couple of guests to attend. Our visit to Westview was very successful. Gwen Sommerfelt played some Christmas songs on the piano as a duet with her mom and the club shared our freshly made cookies along with some nice visiting with the residents.

The gift exchange also went well, each member brought a one dollar gift and placed it on a table. At the end of decorating the cookies each member was given a number, in numerical order each member chose a gift. They could either choose one gift from the table or "steal" from another member. After the member with the last number made their choice, everyone opened the gift they received. Overall, a very fun and good way to go into Holiday break.
