On Jan. 2 Grundy Co. Board of Supervisors held their reorganization meeting for 2007. The newly elected County officers also took the oath of office.

Opal Hood, 79, Grundy Center, formerly of Morrison, died Jan. 8 at the Grundy Co. Hospital.

Marco & Nico Barron, sons of Israel and Gina Barron, have returned from their annual Christmas trip to Mexico.


JAN. 9, 1997

Grundy Co. Supervisors see need to require prisoners to pay daily rent while serving time.

Lester "Mike" Overturf, 94, formerly of Traer, died Dec. 29 at Covenant Medical Center.

Gracie Willms, 90, Grundy Center, died Jan. 2 at the Grundy Co. Hospital.

Mr. & Mrs. Rick Saak, Grundy Center, are parents of boy-girl twins born on Dec. 29, 1996.

Mr. & Mrs. Gary Nelson are parents of a son born Jan. 2, 1997.


JAN. 15, 1987

Freida Stewart, 91, Reinbeck, died Jan. 9.

Merlin Hickey, 81, Dike, died Jan. 8.

Tena Redfearn, 81, Reinbeck, died Jan. 13.

Arlene Nehring has been selected by the Ethics Dept. of Andove, Newton Theological School to attend a seminar in Washington, D.C.

The extensive remodel & repair projects of the UCC Church is now in the final phase.


JAN. 20, 1977

Marlys Tandy of Cedar Falls, formerly of Reinbeck, was injured in a two car accident at the intersection of Hwy 21 and Orange Road.

Jan Thede, Pasadena, Calif. and Henry Lee of Los Angeles were married on Jan. 8.

Mr. & Mrs. Frances Babinat hold closing out sale on Jan. 22.

Mr. & Mrs. Roger Harms are parents of a daughter born Jan. 14.

Dr. & Mrs. Steve Bartusch, Puyallup, Wash. are parents of a daughter born Jan. 17.

Services were held for Wally Freed, 51, who died of a heart condition.

Rev. Middents, Pastor of Amity Pres. Church since May 1, 1977, announces his retirement effective March 1.

Total membership of Historical Collection of Grundy Co. continues to grow. Total membership now stands at 201.


JAN. 12, 1967

Stockholders of the Lincoln Savings Bank voted at the annual meeting to increase the capital stock from $100,000 to $200,000.

Dinsdale post office is closed. Dinsdale patrons will receive their mail thru Reinbeck rural mail carriers.

Richard Rogers, 20, Waterloo, died of his injuries suffered in an auto accident on Hwy 58 on April 6, 1966.

Mrs. Harold Plaehn has been hired as the new custodian of the Reinbeck Memorial Building replacing Lillian Westergaard.

Roger Walters, 50, Reinbeck farmer, died Jan. 17.

Mr. & Mrs. Roger Bern of Kansas City, Mo. are parents of a daughter born Jan. 12.
