Smoldt, Rebels rough up rival Spartans

REINBECK - Joe Smoldt splashed in five 3-pointers en route to a career-high 39 points, leading the Class 1A No. 1 Gladbrook-Reinbeck boys' basketball team to a 71-45 rout of Grundy Center in Tuesday's NICL West Division showdown.

Smoldt also had seven rebounds, five assists and three steals as the Rebels (4-0, 3-0) remained unbeaten. Caden Kickbush contributed 10 points, three assists and three steals, Thomas Mussig scored eight points, and Matt Roeding had four points and 12 rebounds.

No statistics were reported for Grundy Center (0-4, 0-4).
