Miracle on Main

November 6, 2016
Reinbeck Courier

November 11, it's not just for Christmas!

Miracle on Main, is scheduled for November 11. It shares the day with a national holiday, Veterans Day. Veterans Day honors military veterans, that is, persons who served in the United States Armed Forces. It marks the anniversary of the end of World War I; major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, when the Armistice with Germany went into effect. Again, Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans. We should be humbled by those who have served, and remember to thank them for their service.

That being said, we will continue to celebrate as the day continues, and move on to Miracle on Main.

Activities begin at 4:30 with Story Time. Santa should arrive around 5 p.m. at the Memorial Building. Remember, bring your own picture taking device this year. While waiting for Santa, there will be a plethora of other things for kids to do.

Throughout the evening, beautiful trees may be viewed at LSB. If you want to display a tree, contact, Kathy. There will also be Memory Trees.

Live music will be happening all up and down Main Ally and Kylie Jean.

5th through 8th graders, there's a bean bag tournament and a dance for you. Get your friends together and make a plan.

Decorations began to appear Monday already, there's lots of new ones this year. Watch too, for the decorating in the Bill Davis park....a winter wonderland is expected!

Need to shop? Vendors will be available at City Hall and the UCC. And, while you are at the UCC, you might as well grab a bowl of soup and some mmmm good dessert bars, compliments of LSB.

Feeling lucky? It's Reindeer Bingo, will be located at the corner of Main and Broad.

Feeling generous? The Grundy County Christmas Store needs to our help. You may pick up details and lists of ideas at the library or at Truncks.

And, don't forget to stop in at the businesses for treats, treasures and more. And while you're there, thank them for participating.

Not too many more sleeps and it will be November 11...Miracle on Main!

We hope you'll spend the evening with us and let your experiences make wonderful memories for years to come....
