Take a test drive toward better hearing

October 16, 2016
Reinbeck Courier

Waterloo, Iowa The Cedar Valley Center for Hearing is offering free hearing screenings and no-obligation test drives of the latest hearing solutions during its "Test Drive Event", to be held Monday, Oct. 31-Friday, Nov. 4.

The event, which is being held for the first time, will take place at the center's office at 1753 W. Ridgeway Ave., Ste. 110 at United Medical Park in Waterloo. Participants can receive a free hearing screening, and, if a hearing solution such as a hearing aid is recommended by the center's staff, they can "test drive" that device without obligation for one week. Because appointments are limited, those interested in participating should call (319) 833-5968 today to schedule their no-obligation screenings and test drives.

"We encourage anyone who has hearing loss or who wants to assess their hearing to schedule a hearing screening," says Deborah Rieks, the center's doctor of audiology.

The event is part of the Cedar Valley Center for Hearing's continuing efforts to increase hearing health education and awareness in the Cedar Valley. A person's hearing should be checked regularly, and patients who treat their hearing loss with amplification devices report improvements in areas of their lives, including their relationships at home, their self-confidence and their mental health, to name a few. There are also more solutions for treating hearing loss than ever before, including smaller, more comfortable and less noticeable hearing aids and digital models with sound-adjustment features that adapt to surrounding noise-level changes. These and other devices, such as smartphone-controlled hearing aids, can be sampled during the Test Drive Event, and the center's staff will ensure that each hearing solution is customized to fit the patient's specific lifestyle needs.

"Improved hearing means a higher quality of life," Rieks says, "and today's technologies make it easy for those with hearing loss to start hearing what they've been missing."

As a part of Cedar Valley Medical Specialists, P.C., the Cedar Valley Center for Hearing offers complete hearing care to the Cedar Valley, including hearing screenings and the latest hearing-solution technologies. The center also features an in-house ear, nose and throat specialist, Dr. David Congdon, who can consult on hearing matters.
