Fan favorite shelter to receive $10,000 in Tractor Supply Rescue Your Rescue contest

Brentwood, Tenn. - Ten deserving animal rescues and shelters are competing for $25,000 worth of grants in Tractor Supply Company's national Rescue Your Rescue contest, an online competition decided by fan voting that recognizes organizations working to find forever homes for adoptable animals.

The finalists represent a diverse group of rescues and shelters caring for a wide variety of animals:

Unchained Love, Eddyville, Kentucky

Working dogs for vets, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee

Agape Fosters, Reinbeck, Iowa

The Old Dog House, Jacksonville, Florida

Judy's Ark, Pearsall, Texas

Itty Bitty Kitty Committee, Charleston, West Virginia

Central Texas Pig Rescue, Bastrop, Texas

Yaqui Animal Rescue, Sullivan City, Texas

Rockers Rescue -Northwest La, Greenwood, Louisiana

SCARE South Carolina Awareness and Rescue for Equines Inc., Lexington, South Carolina

These 10 shelters and rescues were chosen from more than 3,000 nominations received during the first round of the Rescue Your Rescue contest.

In the second round, from Sept. 7-11, the public will vote for their favorite shelter story through to determine the final standings.

The shelter that receives the highest number of votes will walk away with a $10,000 grant from Tractor Supply, to be awarded in conjunction with Pet Appreciation Week, an annual store event held Sept. 14-18 this year. The remaining nine shelters will also receive grants from Tractor Supply, ranging from $200 to $5,000.

As part of the Pet Appreciation Week main event on Saturday, Sept. 17, many Tractor Supply stores will feature pet adoptions by community partners, demonstrations on pet nutrition, discounts on pet food and supplies, free giveaways, and valuable in-store prize drawings.

All Pet Appreciation Week events are open to the public, including leashed, friendly pets.
