Bible reading marathon

September 4, 2016
Reinbeck Courier

On April 26, 2016, Governor Branstad signed a proclamation encouraging all Iowans to join in the Iowa 99 County Bible Reading Marathon to take place in front of all 100 courthouses. To date 50 counties have currently participated with 40+ counties to complete this event in September. You are invited to participate in this historial event, beginning with Genesis and concluding with Revelation.

The Grundy County Bible Reading Marathon is scheduled for September 6-11 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on the Grundy courthouse lawn. The plan, according to county coordinator Brenda Allen, is for volunteers to take turns and read aloud, beginning with the first book of the Bible through to the last. Allen is scheduling teams from many different churches with captains who will take a 2-hour segment and fill it with readers willing to do 15, 20, 30, or 60 minutes each. Allen also is seeking 1 or 2 person(s) to take either the whole day or a half day September 10 or 11 to check people in and make phone calls or reminders to team captains.

This historical event is taking place all across Iowa and will give all of us an opportunity to publicly magnify the inspired Word of God. Grundy County is one of the forty plus remaining counties that will be participating across the state of Iowa in September. We are anticipating an exciting time as we gather together across denominational lines and with different ethnic groups to read His Word. Many volunteers will be needed. We would like people from every city in our county to participate, children to adults, from all walks of life.

For more information or to reserve a time to participate in this historic event please contact Brenda Allen as soon as possible Monday-Thursday 8-12
