Nutrition and Sports Performance 101 Monday, July 18

What a young person eats in the days and hours before his or her next sporting event can impact performance in the game or meet. High school and middle school student athletes, parents, and coaches are invited to learn about the impact of nutrition on sports performance.

Registered, licensed dietitian Crystal Petersen will touch on a variety of topics:

Fueling to maximize training and conditioning

Fueling and hydrating for peak performance

Eating practices that are detrimental to performance

The program takes place in the hospital's Education Room at 6:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. Use Entrance #3 on the west side of the hospital. Registration is through the Grundy Family YMCA, either via the website, or by phoning 319-825-6210.

CPR and First Aid Tuesday, July 26

This course is designed for the general public, and includes cardiopulmonary resuscitation, defibrillator use and first aid. Taught by a certified instructor, the class fee includes a certification card. The class begins at 4:00 p.m. in the hospital's Education Room, and lasts six hours. 100-Day Weight Loss Challenge Tuesday, August 29

Achieving and maintaining a healthy weight are the goals of this dietitian-led class series. Learn lifelong strategies that assist you with healthy eating strategies and leave you feeling in control of your eating habits. Five classroom sessions and weekly weigh-ins are included throughout the challenge. The first class begins August 29th at 5:30 p.m. in the Grundy County Memorial Hospital Education Room.
