July 4th celebration

June 19, 2016
Reinbeck Courier

Reinbeck's annual July 4th celebration is right around the corner. The July 4th committee is busy planning a great celebration. The Gladbrook-Reinbeck Booster Club is hosting Take me out to the park day on Saturday, July 2. These activities, including 7 on 7 football, pickle ball tournament, home run derby and basketball contest, will begin following the annual Dollard for Scholars duathlon on Saturday. The G-R Boosters will be selling walking tacos in the park on Saturday as well. The annual fireman's dance is on Sunday, July 3. Music provided by Standing Hampton. We will start the morning of the 4th with the kid's activities on Main Street - big wheel races, crowning of Little Mr. and Miss Reinbeck and the Kiddie Parade. The Grand Parade theme this year is Generations of Freedom Celebrating Reinbeck's 140 years. It takes place at 1:30. Our Grand Marshalls are Don Rhoades and the many G-R athletes who have represented our community at the state tournaments over the past school year.

Returning to the park this year are the petting zoo and train ride, the tractor pedal pull, face painting, laser tag, inflatables for all ages including a zip line and euro-bungee jumper, a hot dog eating contest, Lion's Club Bingo, the car show and the Kingdom Klowns. We are again setting up the human foosball field and a volleyball net. Look for the Trunck's Country Foods egg toss at a new time this year. There will be a corn hole tournament at the park this year, registration starting at 3 and the tournament will begin at 4. Music will be provided ion the park by Route 66 beginning at 7 and the day will end with the fireworks and a group of Chinese lanterns launch sponsored by Angie Buffington.

Watch the paper for a complete schedule coming out soon. Schedules will also be available at Lincoln Savings Bank, City Hall, Trunck's Country Foods, Moeller and Walter, the library and other businesses around town.
