REINBECK -Senior Josh Cooley and junior Erik Knaack were both named to the Class 1A, honorable mention list Thursday when the 2016 all-state boys' soccer teams were released.

Cooley and Knaack were the only area athletes named to any all-state team.

Cooley helped save the way for his team as the Grundy Center/Gladbrook-Reinbeck boys' soccer team took third place at this year's Class 1A Iowa boys' State Soccer Tournament in Des Moines.

The GC/G-R senior recorded 146 saves and tallied a 94.2 save percentage. He gave up just nine goals all year. Cooley dislocated his hip in the Rebels' (18-3) semifinal match with eventual state runner-up Kuemper Catholic, yet played in his final two matches of his high school career.

Knaack had a late-season push, including both the Rebels' goals scored in the postseason tournament. He started in 20 games this year, attempting 69 shot and scoring 20 goals total. 42 of his 69 shots were on goal.

Knaack scored the game-winning goal against Iowa City Regina to clinch the third-place match for the Rebels.
