The library has reading program prizes on display in our case during the month of June, with more to be added soon. Some prizes were donated by local businesses. Money given by Woman's Club will also be used to purchase items. The library also has two new "kids" (metal sculptures) outside the entrance. They were purchased with memorial money . The high school shop class helped us out with support pieces so we could get them into place.

This week's events include: Tuesday, June 14 : Summer reading buddies from 1:00 -2:00 at the library. Wednesday, June 15: Afternoon book discussion group meets at Westview from 4:00 -5:00 to talk about the book "See Me" by Nicholas Sparks. The evening group will meet from 7:00 -8:00 to discuss "The Bell Jar" by Sylvia Plath. Thursday, June 16: Summer reading program at the Memorial Building from 2:00 -3:00. This will be a story and music presentation by Mike Anderson, "The Dulcimer Guy". This event is free and open to the public. Then on Friday, June 17 at 2:00 we are doing an activity for kids at the library: "Extreme Sports" is the theme, tying in with the summer reading theme of "On Your Mark, Get Set Read!" Pancake races and jump rope activities are planned for outside (weather permitting).

New materials this week include: Nonfiction book: "Valiant Ambition" by Nathaniel Philbrick. Fiction books: "Dead Heat" and "Best Laid Plans" both by Allison Brennan, "Troublemaker" by Linda Howard, "The City of Mirrors" by Justin Cronin, "Prayers the Devil Answers" by Sharyn McCrumb.
