The Grundy County Heritage Museum in Morrison will officially "kick off" the season with on April 10th from 1:30 to 3:30 PM. This year there will once again be refreshments and great entertainment.

Historical Collections of Grundy County has received funding from Humanities Iowa, a private, non-profit state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, to host a presentation called "American Dreamer: The Life and Times of Henry A. Wallace," by Tom Milligan, at 2 PM in the meeting space of the Heritage Center Building. A cultural resource for Iowans since 1971, Humanities Iowa offers many cultural and historical programs and grants to Iowa's communities.

In this one-act play based on the award-winning book of the same name by Senator John C. Culver and John Hyde, actor Tom Milligan portrays Henry A. Wallace, the agricultural innovator and founder of Pioneer Hi-Bred seed corn company. Wallace brain stormed the idea of a "cornhusking contest" that grew to national significance the 1931 National Cornhusking Contest being held in Grundy County! Wallace, who became US Secretary of Agriculture and later Vice President under Franklin Roosevelt, was admired by many and later branded as a Socialist during his controversial 1948 campaign for the presidency, Wallace always held out a vision for the future.
