Spring break at the Reinbeck Public Library

March 27, 2016
Reinbeck Courier

This past week the Reinbeck Public Library hosted children's events during Spring Break. It was a big success! Over 150 children and adults attended the five events! Monday the library offered a scavenger hunt for the children taking them to all areas of the library. Everyone received a prize from the prize box. Tuesday was a special story time featuring a Reader's Theater presentation of the book "The Library Dragon". Ten GR students, grades 2 12, as well as our own Ann Rae made the presentation. Wednesday was Game Day and children were welcome to bring their own games, as several did, or enjoy the many games donated for the day. It was a fun afternoon. On Friday children were able to make a bouquet of spring flowers as well as a wind chime. During the entire week children were able to pick up a reading Bingo card. The card gave guidelines for reading during the week such as "read in a bathtub" or "read aloud in a funny voice". When a bingo was achieved, the paper was to be turned in and a prize selected.

The library helpers were, Mary Loynachan, Kelly Brockett, & Sadie Brockett as well as our Reader's Theater presenters Ellie and Cameron Sieh, Emma Fleshner, Vanessa Arvizu-Ersland, Wes Latchman, AnnRae Billerbeck, Kelly & Sadie Brockett, Audrey Leyen, Trevor Harrison, and Treston Sparks. Wildflower donated the fruit roll-ups to share with the children and Denise Harrison for the use of many of the games. The families for made this such a success.
