GRUNDY CENTER - The Safe Sitter class can provide parents peace-of-mind that their son or daughter is prepared to be home alone safely, whether alone after school, caring for younger siblings, or babysitting other children.

Grundy County Memorial Hospital and Grundy County Extension service are teaming up to offer another session of the nationally recognized Safe Sitter program, which includes basic child care lessons along with First Aid and infant and child CPR and choking. The course will be offered at the hospital on Saturday, March 5th, 7:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The course is available to young teens ages 11 and older, whether they plan to babysit other children or their parents simply want them to be equipped with skills to deal with potential emergencies, such as the electricity going out or storm warnings, while home without adults present.

To register for the class, contact the hospital at 319-824-5081 or register on the hospital's website, There is a fee and participants should bring a sack lunch. The class is located in the Education Room, accessible through Entrance #3 on the hospital's west side.
