Hospital schedules weight loss, CPR classes in January

GRUNDY CENTER If you are committed to improving your health through weight loss, the upcoming 100 Day Weight Loss Challenge may be for you. Grundy County Memorial Hospital is sponsoring the class, beginning January 18. The challenge consists of five classroom sessions teaching weight loss strategies and goal setting in order to develop lifelong habits that support healthy weight management. Weekly weigh-ins will occur over the duration of 100 days on Mondays, either before or after work. Grundy County Memorial Hospital dietitian Wendy Brewer RDN, LD, will lead the class including small group discussion, activities, and proven strategies for healthy weight loss. Classes begin January 18, 2016, concluding on April 26. All classes will take place in the GCMH Education Room in the west wing of the hospital. Classroom sessions are Mondays at 5:30-7:00 p.m. and will be held on January 18, January 25, February 8, February 22, and March 7, 2016. For more information, contact Wendy Brewer at 319-824-4127. In addition, the hospital has scheduled two class dates for members of the public who wish to learn Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for adults, infants, and children, including defibrillator use. This class also includes choking and first aid skills. The course is designed for non-health care professionals and will take place on January 30, 2016 at 8:00 A.M. and again on February 23, 2016 at 4:00 P.M.
