Free class offers help for high cholesterol

GRUNDY CENTER - If your doctor has told you your cholesterol levels are increasing and you may need medication, 'Just What the Dr. Ordered' may be for you. The new class focuses on controlling cholesterol through nutrition and will be offered by Grundy County Memorial Hospital on Monday, November 16. The class is part of a series of free education events at the hospital that teach people how changes in cooking and eating habits can improve chronic health conditions.

High cholesterol is linked to increased risk of heart disease and stroke, so controlling it is especially important, according to registered dietitian-nutritionist Wendy Brewer. 'Just What the Doctor Ordered Nutrition for High Cholesterol' will be held on Monday, November 16, 5:30 until 7:00 p.m. Sign up for the class by phoning or emailing Brewer at 319-824-4127 or There is no charge for the class, which is made possible with a Community Health Grant from the Grundy County Memorial Hospital Foundation.
