News from the Black Hawk Night Hawks

November 15, 2015
Audrey Leyen , Reinbeck Courier

Recently, the Black Hawk Night Hawks had a meeting on October 11th. We met at the elementary library and our roll call was to say our favorite Halloween Tradition. Our next meeting we plan on having at Hansen's Dairy Farm on November 7th.

Then we talked about our club fundraiser which we will be selling Younkers' Days Booklets. These booklets can be used Nov. 11-14 and will be sold for $5 per book. Also, some of our 4-H projects are on display in the library for the month of October. Registration for 4-H is free in the month of October. We also talked about how some of our members went and talked to the 4th graders at Gladbrook-Reinbeck elementary about being in 4-H. It went very well and both Tama and Grundy Counties were represented. Our next meeting will be a potluck and a meeting hosted at Hansen's Dairy after the tour. For any high school 4-H members, county council is a great opportunity to get involved. As a reminder, if you plan on showing an animal at fair, you must take an FSQA class. The class dates are Monday, March 28th 6:30-8:00, Saturday, April 9th 9:00-10:30, Monday, April 11th 6:30-8:00, or Saturday, April 23rd 9:00-10:30. Last of all, we talked about the 4-H Grundy County Halloween Party/Awards Ceremony that we will have on October 25th, 2:00-4:00.

Then, Emma Fleshner gave a presentation on how to do a working exhibit. She had done previous ones before and knew what the judges were looking for. Next, Karly & Kinzee showed us how to make jar lid ornaments that we will use for our tree on Miracle on Main.
