Reinbeck Art Festival

October 18, 2015
Marion Boyer , Reinbeck Courier

This year the day was a perfect day for an art festival. The sun was shining, it was warm and there was an ever so slight breeze. If you were not able to walk through the booths and tables of art, visit with the artists, and experience the day, you missed some very accomplished artwork and a fun event in the town. Please save the date for next year: September 24, 2016.

Several of the artists have direct ties to Reinbeck: Dennis Petersen graduated from here. It was interesting to listen to him sharing stories and memories of those days so long ago: Jim and Santha Kerns, our pottery specialist this year, are related to three families here; Carol Wilson's Mother, Pat (Robinson) Taylor, was born and raised here; Jan Stephan was born and raised here; Chuck Freitag, who donated a beautiful framed print for the art scholarship raffle, was born and raised here; Michelle Beck, Julie Russell-Steuart and Marion Boyer all call Reinbeck home.

The music was wonderful as well. Many of our musicians are also residents of our community: Kelly and Sadie Brockett, Cherie Eckhoff, Rachel Keber, Mia McLean and Allan Mittler.

If we stop and think about Reinbeck, we can think of lots of talented people in many walks of life. We were blessed to have a lot of great artists from near and far come here to sell their art. Many of the shoppers treated themselves to fine art.or worked on their gift giving lists.

It was indeed a fun day in town. The chain saw artist created a bear, a large pumpkin, and a little cabin in the woods. These will be sold by silent bids on the night of Miracle on Main, Nov. 13, 2015. The children created their own art, under the direction of Kathy Etringer. The day was so very right for bringing people to Reinbeck to get a glimpse of why we who live here are proud to call it home
