Rebels ransack Redhawks, 51-7

GLADBROOK- Eighth-ranked Gladbrook-Reinbeck rattled off its second consecutive blowout victory, hosting North Tama to a 51-7 setback in the Rebels' Homecoming game Friday night at 'The Pit.'

The Rebels (4-2, 2-1) outgained the visiting Redhawks 405-21 in total yardage, limiting North Tama (0-6, 0-4) to just five first downs and minus-21 yards rushing.

G-R quarterback Jake Schuman threw for two first-half touchdowns and ran for another in helping his team jump out to a 49-0 lead at the intermission. Schuman finished 4-for-9 for 143 yards, hooking up with Colton Dinsdale for a 38-yard touchdown in the first quarter and a 42-yard catch-and-run by Matt Roeding in the second period.

Eric Stoakes scampered for 116 yards on just 14 carries, reaching paydirt on a 3-yard run in the opening quarter and a 55-yard dash in the second. Josh Cooley's 5-yard fullback blast opened the game's scoring, and Kainen Hendricks duplicated the play late in the first half.

North Tama quarterback Cael Kopriva accounted for the Redhawks' only score, running it in from 6 yards out in the second quarter. G-R's defense sacked Kopriva in the end zone for a safety for the game's final points midway through the fourth.

Dinsdale finished with two receptions for 79 yards and Stoakes took a screen pass 22 yards on his only catch. Josh Peterson ran for 50 yards on eight carries in a back-up role for the Rebels, who host AGWSR (2-4, 2-2) next Friday night. Josh Cooley and Tyler Pierce had four tackles apiece to lead the defense, and Erik Knaack had an interception.

Kopriva was just 3-for-14 passing for 23 yards with an interception for the Redhawks. Joe Earley had a 19-yard reception for a fourth-down conversion during the second half. Scott Morrison made one grab for 16 yards and Caden Stuart had two catches for seven yards.

North Tama hosts Hudson (5-1) in non-district play next Friday in the Redhawks' final home game of the season.
