Comets get net revenge against GR

REINBECK - The BCLUW volleyball team returned to the site of its last loss and avenged it Tuesday night, taking down Gladbrook-Reinbeck in a 3-0 sweep in NICL West Division action.

The Comets, who lost 25-20, 25-19 to the Rebels in the match to decide the champion of G-R's tournament over the weekend, prevailed in the conference clash by scores of 25-10, 25-23, 25-20.

Olivia Callaway led all players with 11 kills for the Comets, while Jordyn Beeghly had nine more. Sam Ubben scored six kills and setter Bobbi Paper, who did not play in Saturday's match, added five kills to go with 23 assists.

Callaway led the defense with 17 digs while Nicole Lutes and Paper had 13 apiece. Kaylee Goecke added 12 for BCLUW (12-3, 3-0). Hannah Sams and Paper both piled up three blocks, while Lutes served 18-for-19 with an ace. Callaway went 17-for-18 with three aces, and Goecke was 10-for-10.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck (9-8, 2-2) was led by Lauren Husmann and Hayley Weber with five kills apiece. Leah Holman had 10 assists and Sydney Brown totaled 12 digs. Madeline Mussig charted the only block for G-R, while Husmann led by going 15-for-15 with an ace at the service line. Holman was 12-for-12 with three aces, and Brown went 10-for-10 with three aces.
