Health care scholarship awards announced by hospital foundation

GRUNDY CENTER Nine area students have been selected to receive scholarships from the Grundy County Memorial Hospital Foundation. The students are pursuing health care careers that include nursing, radiography, sonography, and occupational therapy.

Health Care Career Scholarship winners are: Janie Ferneau, Conrad; Emily Dinsdale, Reinbeck; Samantha Ohrt, Reinbeck; Beth Johanns, Grundy Center; Jennifer Appel, Grundy Center; Zoe Johanns, Grundy Center; Abby Johnson, Gladbrook; Samantha Bonin, Iowa Falls; Theresa Borcherding, Cedar Falls. Scholarship amounts range from $1,000 to $1,500, and are funded by the Sara Lee Yoder Scholarship Endowment, the Irene A. Stout Scholarship Endowment, the family of Don Kliebenstein, and an annual scholarship luncheon and card party sponsored by the hospital Foundation.

The health care career scholarship program is in its ninth year, and has awarded a total of fifty-two scholarships totaling more than $60,000 to students who reside in or work in the hospital's service area of Grundy, Tama, Hardin, and Butler counties.
