Dear Editor,

Wednesday evening, (May 6th) I attended the Gladbrook-Reinbeck School Board meeting. I was interested in several of the topics that were being discussed and voted on that evening. As the meeting went on, I became appalled at the lack of respect shown to the members of the

School Board and to the Superintendent, and at the disregard for the procedural process.

It became apparent to me that those causing the disruption were not at the meeting as

interested and concerned patrons of the G-R District but rather were there for the sole purpose of disrupting the process and causing harm to the district. Everyone has a right to attend these meetings and voice opinions as long as it is done in accordance with the rules of the meeting

and all in attendance are treated with respect.

Our elected School Board Members do not deserve this type of treatment for trying to do a very difficult job. They put in countless hours for no compensation for doing the job that they were elected and charged to do.

I hope this behavior is not repeated at future meetings, but if it is I believe the School Board has every right to lay down strict guidelines and consequences for those attending. We wouldn't tolerate disrespectful behavior from our students; they would face consequences. We shouldn't tolerate disrespectful behavior from adults either.
