Relay for Life

What do people going through cancer treatment need, and how can I help them?

This is a question many of us may ask ourselves when we find out that a friend, family member, neighbor or coworker has been diagnosed with cancer. It's not always easy to know how to make a real difference. Participating in Relay for Life is helping. Funds raised at Relay for Life are being actively used by cancer patients and their families' right here in Grundy County, across Iowa, and around the country.

Every day thousands of cancer patients need a ride to treatment, but some may not have a way to get there. The American Cancer Society Road to Recovery program provides transportation to and from treatment for people who have cancer who do not have a ride or are unable to drive themselves. Volunteer drivers donate their time and the use of their cars so that patients can receive the life-saving treatments they need.

Last year alone 3,840 rides to treatment were provided to cancer patients and their caretakers in Iowa alone by the Road to Recovery program and it's volunteers.

Do your part in the fight against cancer and sign up a team for the Grundy County Relay for Life today! Go to to register your team for free, and then start fundraising!

Relay for Life of Grundy County will be on Friday June 12th, from 5:00pm-11:00pm at the Grundy Center High School Track.
