Donald William Tomlinson, 88, of Traer passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer with family at his side after a brief illness with cancer. Funeral Services were held Friday, October 24, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the United Presbyterian Church in Traer with Pastor Brice Hoyt officiating. Interment followed at Buckingham Cemetery in Traer. Visitation was held on Friday, October 24, 2014 from 10 AM until the time of service at the church.

Donald was born on September 4, 1926, in Traer, Iowa, the son of William and Janet (Addison) Tomlinson.

He graduated from Dinsdale High School in 1944.

On June 27, 1949, he was united in marriage to Marlys Jean Karkosh in Dubuque, Iowa. They recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Don was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Traer and Hesperia Masonic Lodge #340 where he received his fifty year pin. One of Don's greatest joys was farming and he was proud to farm alongside his son and grandson. Don enjoyed his family, camping and traveling.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Marlys on August 3, 2014; and one granddaughter, Jennifer Peters.

Survivors include two daughters, Janice (Paul) Peters of Wellsburg and Audrey (Michael II) Macri of Clive; one son, Mark (Cindy) Tomlinson of Traer; seven grandchildren, Angela (Matthew) Buttjer of Aplington, Andrew and John Peters of Wellsburg, Michael III (Kristin) Macri of Clive, Matthew (Megan) Macri of Chicago, Ill., Steffanie (Kevin) Bonnstetter of Knoxville and Dallas (Kaitlyn) Tomlinson of Traer; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Wesley (Jeanette) Tomlinson of Traer.

A memorial fund has been established.
