AUGUST 5, 2004

Lexi Hach, daughter of Dave & Deb Hach, Reinbeck, was named 2004 Grundy Co. Fair Queen.

Third annual sweet corn day was held July 31 at the Reinbeck Memorial Bldg.

Monsanto Fund Awards Grant of $20,000 to G-R Ag. Education Dept.

Pam Longseth, Waterloo, and Kevin E. Heath, Cedar Falls were married on June 26 at the Dike United Methodist Church.

Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Schlicht, Webster, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on June 3.

Bernice Haupt, 85, Wellsburg, died July 28 at the Eldora Nursing & Rehab Center.


AUGUST 4, 1994

Dennis Bolt made a hole-in-one on #6 hole at Oakleaf Country Club.

Evelyn Hauschildt, 79, Gladbrook, died August 2.

Lori Kaufman & Patrick Knaack were married April 30.

Melissa Truitt & Brent Cook were married July 9.

Mr. & Mrs. Ted Berner are parents of a daughter born July 21.

Mr. & Mrs. Greg DeVries are parents of a daughter born July 27.

Mr. & Mrs. Kyle Schuman are parents of a son born Aug. 1.


AUGUST, 1984

More than 2,000 attended the first annual Voorhies Days celebration.

Mr. & Mrs. Walt Stock sold their rental house to Rick Myli for $30,000.

Bertha Dufel, 95, died Aug. 6.

Mildred Hildebrand, 80, died Aug. 3.

Mr. & Ms. Gary Graveman are parents of a son born Aug. 4.

Gregg Moser had knee surgery at Rochester and is getting around on crutches.


AUGUST, 1974

Reinbeck School opens on Aug. 25 with an anticipated enrollment of 729.

Grundy Co. Sheriff's Dept. will move from the court house to the old Social Security Dept. building.

Helen Ewoldt estate was willed to the Presbyterian Church and Grundy County Association for mentally retarded children.

Rosalyn Dircks and Robert Brandt were married Aug. 10.

Janet Mertes & Richard Witt were married Aug. 3 in Adair, Iowa.

Jerome Verduyn , and his father W.H. Verduyn and Jim Bolin rode the entire 430 mile RAGBRAI bike ride from Council Bluffs to Dubuque. They traveled through Morrison.


AUGUST, 1964

J. Kenneth Andres, 60, died Aug. 11 of a heart attack.

Richard & Clarence Claussen have taken over the operation of Anderson locker plant.

The Farmers Cooperative Elevator Co. and Farmers Coop il Co. of Lincoln have merged to form the new Lincoln Cooperative of Lincoln as of July 30.

Reinbeck Commercial Club free sweet corn and hotdog day will be Aug. 13.

Lincoln's 3rd annual Watermelon Day will be Aug. 12.


AUGUST, 1954

Dinsdale School will start on Aug. 30.

Carl Strohbehn, 69, suffered a stroke on Main Street is reported in good condition.

Harley J., grandson of Mr. & Mrs. Harley Ingols has been stricken with polio in Germany with his parents.

Jessie Parish, 71, died Aug. 10 of cancer.

Mary Beenken & Maurell Ralston, both of Morrison, were married Aug. 10.

Mr. & Mrs. Clark Swartrz of Hudson are parents of daughter born Aug. 8.

Mr. & Mrs. Melvin Jans are parents of a daughter born Aug. 6.

Mr. & Mrs. Ennenga are parents of a daughter born. Aug. 9.


AUGUST, 1944

Rev. Carl Krog of Marion has accepted the call to St. John's Lutheran church and will begin on Aug. 13.

Pfc. Lutellas "Hap" Show, Morrison, is now reported as a prisoner of the Germans.

Mrs. Herman Ledtje, 88, Morrison died Aug. 8 at her home.

Mr. & Mrs. Marvin Jans are parents of a son born July 31.

Master Sgt. & Mrs. T.S. Robertson of Lemay, Mo. are parents of a son born July 27.

Farmers Coop Elevator are erecting a 26x60 block tile storage building.
