JULY 8, 2004

Lincoln Savings Bank acquires Tama Branch on July 8.

Mr. & Mrs. Harry Thoms will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on July 18 at the Memorial Bldg. in Gladbrook.

Pastor & Liz Sieh will celebrate their 20th anniversary with New Life Assembly of God Church.

Ken & Shelly Fogt were married June 5 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls.

Marlis Nielsen, 79, Dike, died June 29 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home.


JULY 14, 1994

Mr. & Mrs. Chad Jensen, Fort Dodge, are parents of a son born July 7.

Melanie D. McIntyre and Robert J. Greenlee III were married June 18 at the United Church of Christ in Cedar Falls.

Michelle Plaisance, Storm Lake, & Chris Bowers announce plans for their upcoming wedding on August 13 at Buena Vista College in Storm Lake.

New shelter house in Elmwood Park is finished in memory of Gilbert Martens.


JULY 19, 1984

Mr. & Mrs. Russell Bowen will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on July 28.

Kelly Folkerts and Russell Schutte were married July 7 in the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

Susan Conradi, Reinbeck, and Rick Sullivan, Independence, were married June 30.

Mr. & Mrs. Jim Spear are parents of a daughter born July 10.

Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Husmann are parents of a son born July 10.

Grace Ross, 81, Grundy Center, died July 14.


JULY 25, 1974

Doug Ladd was arrested for larceny of a motor vehicle. He was arrested while driving a car owned by Jonathan Felz of Gladbrook.

Wm Boldt, 83, formerly of Amity area, was electrocuted during a violent storm in Waterloo.

Dean Bolman, Morrison, was arrested following a fight with police officer Tom Hansen.

Ray Diez purchased the home of Dan Djuren for $12,250.

Craig Pothast, 21, escaped serious injury when his car flipped and was totally demolished.

Ruth Anderson & Donald Fleshner were married in Parkersburg.

Jean Lohnes & Micheal DeBerg were married July 20.


JULY, 1964

The Dairy Bar, owned by Mr. & Mrs. Harold Brubaker, closed for lack of business.

Skyway Club has reopened after completing its new addition.

Stein's Cafe will open Sunday July 11 a.m. serving breakfast effective July 26.

Ronald Mastain fractured several ribs when he fell from a farm machine.

Margaret Plaehn, 87, died July 21.

Moeller & Walter to rebuild elevator at Dinsdale which was destroyed by fire last week.

Charlene Sealock, Clutier and Gordon Horstman, Hudson, were married July 17.

Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth Albert, Washburn, are parents of a son born July 11.

Mrs. Virtus Ramundt fell on a broken pyrex dish she dropped and cut her right arm which required surgery.


JULY, 1954

Forrest Raney has purchased the brick building on Main St. belonging to the late G.A. Biebersheimer for $9,000. Raney plans to move his insurance business there.

Fire damaged the rental house on the Art Dufel farm. Loss estimated at $4,000.

Jeanette Walters, 18, Grundy Center, became Grundy County 2nd highway fatality for this year in an auto accident northwest of Dike.

Clarence Cavanaugh, 49, formerly of Buckingham, died July 14 in Waterloo.


JULY, 1944

R.S. Stephenson, 57, of the Amity area, died at Allen Hospital on July 18.

Mrs. H.C. Fabriscius, 81, died July 14 in Marion.

Robert Creswell, 78, died July 19.

Mr. & Mrs. Gerald Hoeppner are parents of a daughter born July 17,

Mr. & Mrs. Roger Walters are parents of a son born July 17.
