Open house will be held on Saturday, July 3 at violin professor Frederick Halgedahl home where he is hosting the 1st annual Reinbeck Sonata Marathon.

Second annual auto & bike show will be held on July 4 in conjunction with the July 4th celebration.

Alison Schofield Moon & Steve Griswold are engaged to be married.

Daniel Hayek graduates from Airman Leadership School on June 17 in North Dakota.

Betty Vogt Dwyer, 76, Berryville, Ark. died June 7 in Berryville.

Dwight Rewerts, 78, Wellsburg, died June 22 at his home.

Merideth E, Palmer, 89, Reinbeck, died June 26 at Parkview Manor.

JULY 7, 1994

A fire was reported on the Larry Meyer farm one mile south of Wellsburg when a corn crib caught fire on June 29. Firemen from Wellsburg & Holland were called and saved the structure.

Corn Carnival Kids Day was held Saturday July 9th.

Master Sergeant John Calderwood, Reinbeck, was promoted to his present rank during ceremonies held in Des Moines on June 27. He is an Operations NCO for the Des Moines recruiting Battalion of the U. S. Army.

Angie Busch & Marc Beeken will be married on Sept. 10.

JULY 12,1984

First Baptist Church will be commemorating its 25th anniversary on July 15.

The community of Voorhies will hold its first annual Voorhies Days on August 4.

Mr. & Mrs. Keith Sindt have purchased the Louise Lampe estate home for a reported price of $30,500.

JULY, 1974

Former Reinbeck business The Baker's Oven owned by Dale & Nancy Hookie, have filed bankruptcy.

Chris Roberts purchased 10 acres known as Lester Lorenz farm.

Mr. & Mrs. Dan Djuren purchased the Pete Rosenburger home for $18,500.

50 YEARS AGO

JULY, 1964

A fire was discovered at the Moeller & Walter Elevator in Dinsdale. Fire departments from Reinbeck, Hudson & Grundy Center responded to the alarm. Loss was estimated at $80,000 and included 51,000 bushels of grain.

John Hartung has been hired as head basketball coach for Reinbeck.

Paul Plaehn has been elected Commander of Action Post #242 of the American Legion. Robert Conrad was elected Adjutant.

60 YEARS AGO

JULY 1954

Kater Hake, twin son of Mr. & Mrs. Homer Hake, was stricken with polio and is in Iowa City Hospital.

Action Post #242 American Legion's new commander is Kenneth Robinson and Adjutant is Harold Petersen.

70 YEARS AGO

JULY, 1944

Manager Walter Hawkins of Pioneer announced that 100 mexicans will arrive on July 22 to assist in detasseling 1600 acres of seed corn.

Lt. Elmer Dudolski, 25, a Thunderbolt fighter pilot, is reported lost in action over France.

Mr. & Mrs. J.J. Mulder have sold their greenhouse business to Mr. & Mrs. M.J. Tandy of Wapello.

Elmer Strohbehn, 53, died July 7.

Pvt. Walter Mennenga serving with an Army Tank Unit has received the Army Good Conduct Medal.

Robert L. Squires, 39, former Reinbecker, was killed in an auto accident on east Eagle Road, south of Waterloo.
