There is just one more summer reading event to go: a program by the Grundy County Conservation office that will be held at the Memorial Building at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9 at 2:00 p.m. This is a free event, open to the public.

Our most recent program (as of this writing) was a big success. "Rocket Man" Bob Windt entertained a large group of kids with some science demonstrations. Everyone got to make rockets and launch them in the parking lot of the Memorial Building. Some of the rockets went VERY high!

Reading program participants must have their reading logs turned in to the library by July 19 in order to receive prizes. Even if you were only able to read for one hour, turn in the sheet, and you will be placed in a drawing for various prizes.

Our story time for young children will be starting up sooner than usual this year. We plan to start on Tuesday, July 15 and continue on Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m. through the school year. The first story time will be done by Val Ehlers.

The evening book discussion group will meet at Westview on Wednesday, July 16 at 7:00. The selection is The Dressmaker of Khair Khana by Gayle Tzemach Lemmon. Contact the library if you would like to take part and need a copy of the book.
