The annual fishing derby will take place on Saturday, June 7, 2014 from 6 AM to 1 PM at the Grundy County Lake near Dike. This year, the event coincides with Iowa's free fishing weekend.
The Grundy County Conservation Board event has proven to be a great success each year. The 8th annual derby is once again sponsored by Peoples Savings Bank in Dike. We greatly appreciate their support towards the Grundy County Lake and this event.
There is an entry fee for the derby. The derby is catch and release only so bring your buckets to keep the fish alive. There will be prizes for the biggest bass, panfish and catfish along with many, many door prizes. There will be free hotdogs for participants.
The lake provides easy access fishing for all ages with a handicap accessible dock and four fishing jetties. It also has an asphalt recreational trail that travels around the entire lake and out to the 60 site campground complete with showers, restrooms, playground, and dump station. The Grundy County Lake has a lot to offer so check it out on June 7th for the annual fishing derby.
The fishing derby is a great chance to get out and enjoy the outdoors. It also provides the perfect opportunity to get a kid out fishing. Our lake has great fishing with easy access and kids have a chance at winning many door prizes.
We hope to see you out at the lake on Saturday, June 7.
