The NICL West Track Meet was held in Eldora on Thursday. The rain moved in around the halfway point of the meet, but the meet was completed after a 30 minute delay in the action. Gladbrook-Reinbeck boys finished 7th in the 8 team field with 53 points. East Marshall won the meet with 97 points, while South Tama was the runner-up with 84 points.
Zach Pierce had a solid evening in the shot put and discus. Zach was runner-up in the discus with a throw of 135' 4", while placing third in the shot put with 47' 2". The 4x800M Relay team of Eric Stoakes, Austin Lott, Parker Bown, and Wyatt Swanson took home runner-up medals with a time of 8:52.57. Eric Stoakes also brought home a runner-up medal in the 400 Low Hurdles with a time of 57.98. Wyatt Swanson finished third in the 800M run with a time of 2:09.53. And the 4x400M Relay team of Parker Bown, Blake Kibe, Eric Stoakes, and Wyatt Swanson finished third with a time of 3:46.85.
The expectations for the Rebels heading into the meet were higher than 7th place as a team. Some events did not turn out quite as expected, and the Rebels have battled some injuries and illness as of late. With time running short, it is time to have peak performances. In a difficult season with weather, it is quickly coming to a close. There is one last prep meet on Monday at Parkersburg and Thursday in the State Qualifying Meet in Belle Plaine.
