Agnes Kucera, 97, died April 26 at Covenant Medical Center.

Ellen Aswegan, 88, Grundy Center, died April 21 at the Grundy Co. Long-term Care Unit.

Lawrence "Larry" Barnes, 86, Grundy Center, died April 22 at the Grundy Hospital.

Jeanne Frederick, 75, Grundy Center, died April 20 at the Grundy Hospital.

Brianne Thede, Des Moines, has been honored as a Presidential Scholar at AIB.


MAY 12, 1994

Charlotte Ohrt, Reinbeck junior, will attend Girls State.

Mary Bossom Cruse, 69, Plainfield, was killed at the scene of an accident near New Hartford. This is Grundy County 2nd facility.

Construction of the new Lincoln Savings Bank is progressing.

Mr. & Mrs. Melvin Bowen, Grundy Center, are parents of a daughter born April 23.

Darci Heltibridle and Jim Opperman will be married June 24 in Grundy Center.

Arricka Earp and Cory Brouwer will be married Aug. 3 at the First Baptist Church in Ames.

Roger Schelling, 63, Reinbeck, died May 10 unexpectedly at home.

Gilbert Martens, 82, Reinbeck, died May 5 at his home.

Karl Hoppe, 81, formerly of Reinbeck, died May 6 at Sartori Hospital.

Loran Albert, 89, Reinbeck, died May 12.

Mr. & Mrs. Jeff Billerbeck, Reinbeck, are parents of a daughter born May 6.

Sara Keith, Reinbeck, and Tom Weissenfluh, Dike, were married on May 5 at the First Presbyterian Ch. in Reinbeck.

Daryl Roberts, Reinbeck, and Patti Stober were married May 14.

Frances Delfs, 72, Gladbrook, died May 12.


MAY 23, 1974

Commencement exercises for 51 seniors to be held on May 28.

Mr. & Mrs. Jerry Fogt purchased the Roger DeWolf apartment house at 508 Black Hawk for $18,000.

Mr. & Mrs. Eric Swaney purchased the Lois Meyer residence for $17.000.

Merlin Adair & Don Schildroth are candidates for Lincoln and BlackHawk townships.

Alma Trepp, 67, former Reinbeck resident, died May 18.

Mildred Seda, 66, first 1974 Tama County fatality was struck by an auto driven by Nancy Boldt, 23, on Highway 63 at the south edge of Traer.


MAY, 1964

Lois Kneeland has been chosen as Girls' State representative from Reinbeck Action Unit #242.

Gustav Treimer has set up a memorial trust fund of $10,000 at LSB to be used to advance the education of some worthy student graduating from Reinbeck High School.

John Bowers, 17, Dike, to report on June 30 at the U.S. Military Academy at Annapolis.

Alfred "Skip" Cheeseman was selected as "Teenage Driver of the Month" for April by the Reinbeck Lions Club.


MAY, 1954

Jimmie Plaehn, son of Mr. & Mrs. Charles Plaehn, suffered painful injuries when he was riding on the tractor and jumped from the tractor into the path of a corn planter and was dragged several feet.

Dinsdale to graduate 11 seniors this year.

Geri Paton to be installed as Worthy Advisor of the Order of Rainbow for Girls on May 23.

Mr. & Mrs. Edwin Botsford are parents of a daughter born May 16.

Grundy County's youngest board of supervisors, Alfred Lutterman, 38, died May 13.
