The Hudson Pirates hosted their second invitational of the season on Thursday. It was a cool evening, with several area schools in attendance. But the competition was fierce on the track with several outstanding performances. The Gladbrook-Reinbeck Rebels faired well on the track finishing 7th overall with 45 points.
The field events paced the Rebels with Zach Pierce finishing 2nd in the shot put with a throw of 45'2". The Rebels ran strong in the 4x800M Relay (C. Clark, A. Lott, E. Stoakes, W. Swanson) placing 3rd with a time of 8:47.23. Also, the Shuttle Hurdle team of Parker Bown, Erik Knaack, Phil Zimmerman, and Jake Schuman finished 4th with a time of 1:08.53. Wyatt Swanson finished 3rd in the 800 (2:12), while Eric Stoakes finished 3rd in the 400M lows (59.56). Tyler Bovy finished 4th in the 3200 (10:53).
Again, the weather played a role in this meet, particularly later in the evening. The Rebels have to continue to place strong in field events. G-R has several strong events heading into the latter part of April, but those must continue to improve with the weather warming up. This week the Rebels will travel to Dike on Tuesday and Denver on Thursday.
Eric Stoakes enters the backstretch in the 400 low hurdles. Stoakes finished 3rd overall in the event.
