It was Clint's dream to be able to bring a youth track & field event to Grundy Center where not only his children could participate, but to allow for the surrounding area youths to get excited about track and field in general.
What is a Hershey Track and Field Day and how do I sign up?
Hershey Company promotes track and field with youth meets throughout the country. Local qualifying meets like this one are a fun way to promote track, and can qualify you to move on to state, regional and national Hershey meets! Register for our local meet online and see what events are available at www.hersheystrackandfield.com. Our local event starts at 4 PM at the Grundy Center High School track.
You can also register or ask questions by contacting Jenn Flater, meet coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling her at 515-229-6770. Pre-registration by April 29th will make you eligible for additional prizes! You may also register on race day starting at 2:30 PM till 3:30 PM at the track. Hershey qualifying events are for ages 9-14. Medals awarded to 1st & 2nd place participants. (Your age placement is determined by your age as of December 31, 2014.) Hershey fun events are for ages 2-8, which include short races, crab race, shoe kick and more! Ribbons will be given to all participants.
What is the Memorial 5k Race?
The Clint McMartin 5k memorial race is a fundraising event for a scholarship in honor of former Grundy Center track coach, Clint McMartin. All ages are welcome to participate, from kids to seniors. To register for the 5k contact Brian or Janet Buhrow at 319-824-5575 or email@example.com. The entry fee includes t-shirt and bag. You can same day register starting at 1:15 PM on race day. Race starts at 2 PM at the Grundy Center High School track. We will also be honoring Sam Iverson at this year's event. Sam coached the Grundy Center High School girls and boys cross-country teams.
Info for Everyone
Free admission for spectators means everyone can have a fun time watching the meet. Concessions (pork loin sandwich) will be available sponsored by the junior class prom. T-shirt and bracelet sales help our scholarship fund. We also welcome individuals or businesses to sponsor our meet.Contact person is Brian Buhrow, 319-824-5575 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Any Way Relay
The final event of the evening is the "Any Way Relay". The 1600 meter relay may consist of 1-8 team members. Teams may consist of any age (youth and adults). Team members may run multiple legs in the event. Each individual leg of the relay can be split up in to whatever distance you decide, but the total finishing distance run by your team MUST equal 1600 meters.
