The Gladbrook-Reinbeck track teams traveled to Conrad on Monday, March 31st to participate in the BCLUW Invitational. In typical Iowa fashion, we started with temperatures in the 60's, had a thunderstorm move through the area, and ended the meet early due to cold temperatures. Welcome to spring!
The Rebel Boys track team had a successful night in what we were able to compete in. Zach Pierce took home a gold medal in the shot put with a throw of 47' 10". He broke his own record that he established last year at the state track meet. The 4x200M Relay team of Chase Clark, Wyatt Swanson, Jeff Tscherter, and Eric Stoakes also brought home a gold medal with a time of 1:40.9.
In other placing's, Eric Stoakes was 3rd in the 400M Dash with a time of 55.72. Chase Clark was 4th in the high jump with a leap of 6'. Chase was also 4th in the long jump with a jump of 19' 6.5". Tyler Bovy finished 4th in the 3200M run with a time of 11:17.
For the first meet of the outdoor season, we were able to see where we stood. The Rebels had a solid showing in the field events and hurdles. Considering the weather conditions, especially after the storm, we had a great start to the season. This week GR travels to South Tama on 4/8, and on 4/10 runs at Grundy Center.
