MARCH 31, 1994

Tyler Blohm, 12, Reinbeck, was presented with an award for saving his 10 year old cousin, Kyle Blohm when a 4 wheel vehicle they were riding overturned.

Agnes Koupal will celebrate her 80th birthday on April 4.

Don Briggs wrestling coach at UNI, to be speaker at the Rebel All-Sports banquet on April 9.

Jason Rinz and Deborah Scheflush announce plans for their upcoming wedding.

About 70 Grundy Co. Farm Bureau members visited the Nation's Capitol on March 22-24. Walt & Connie Miller were among those on the trip.

On March 31, eleven Reinbeck Jaycees attended year end regional meeting in Waterloo.

The Reinbeck Chapter honored Tom Bicket by awarding him a JCI Senatorship, the highest award in Jaycees.

Alice Ruppelt, 83, Grundy Center, died March 29.

Vera Long, 91, Grundy Center, died March 30.

Dr. & Mrs. Thomas Beller of Overland Park, Kan. are parents of a daughter born March 16.

Mr. & Mrs. Bob Johnson, Kewanee, Ill. are parents of a son born April 1.

Christine daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Mike Petersen is one of 50 students to receive a $500 scholarship from the Grand Lodge of Iowa A.F. & A.M.

40 YEARS AGO

APRIL 11, 1974

Persons interested in establishing a nursery school have a meeting.

A fire on Orla Hite farm destroyed a corn crib on April 1.

Kelley Hardware & Furniture and Hook's Quality Foods will move to the newly remodeled building on Broad St.

LeRoy Hayes of Prairie City to be manager of Morrison and Reinbeck Coops.

Extensive damage was done to the Reinbeck school grounds by vandals driving on soft ground. Eight juveniles were arrested and charged with criminal trespass and the driver was charged with reckless driving.

J.D. Abels, Grundy Center, is recovering from skull surgery after a fall at his grandparents home. He was unconscious and paralyzed for weeks following the accident.

Amelia Hansen, 91, died at Parkview on April 10.

APRIL. 1964

Don Billerbeck received the official gavel as President of the new Jaycee Chapter at the charter night banquet on April 4.

Roger Sindt is Reinbeck Lion's Club teenage driver of the month.

Mr. & Mrs. Richard Fleming of Marion, Iowa are parents of a son born April 6.

APRIL, 1954

Leroy Moser Publisher of the Reinbeck Courier is a defendant in a law suit asking $15,000. damages as a result of a story printed and given to the Courier by Supt. Pembrook.

Rozell Poisal, 75, died of a heart attack on April 3.

Lester Marts has decided to close out the remainder of the Marts Motor Service store at public auction.

Dinsdale Rock Island Depot closed its doors last Friday.

70 YEARS AGO

APRIL, 1944

Lylas Copley, Grundy Center and Richard Hughes of Eugene Ore. were married March 25.

Wilson & Co. of Reinbeck furnished 200 eggs for Reinbeck's Commercial Club's Annual Easter Egg Hunt on April 8.

Mr. & Mrs. Ray Brandt, Morrison, are parents of a son born April 3.

The fire department was called to the Marvin Jans home in southwest Reinbeck to put out a roof fire.
