Green Scene Garden Symposium

Green Scene Garden Symposium will take place March 1, 2014 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Waterloo Center for the Arts, 225 Commercial St., Waterloo, Iowa. The registration fee includes five seminars and lunch. Pre-registration is recommended. A gardener's market will also be open featuring displays from speakers and products from local retailers.

Registration is from 8-8:30 a.m. This year's symposium has Keith Kovarik, of Hawkeye's K& K Gardens speaking on new perennials, Master Gardener and Linn County Extension Service's Deb Walser sharing curb appeal, and Bob Hackbarth and Ed Poyner from Hosta Leaf in Colesburg discuss hostas and shade gardening. Karla McGrail, Master Gardener and Linn County Extension Service Member offers ideas on living with Bambi, and Aaron Stiel from Reiman Gardens will speak on buck roses and rose care in Iowa."

Green Scene is a local, nonprofit volunteer organization that has given more than $600,000 to Black Hawk County for tree plantings and county beautification since 1976.
