Reading incentive program

February 16, 2014
Reinbeck Courier

The 5th and 6th grade Language Arts/Reading class at Gladbrook-Reinbeck Middle School had a reading incentive program for the 5th and 6th graders to encourage them to read outside of school. Each quarter the goal was for them to read 500 pages. If students individually reached that goal, and proved they read the books by doing book talks with teachers, they earned a reward at the end of the quarter. This quarter, 35 students met that goal and got to watch Despicable Me 2 at school on Thursday, January 16. Three students were selected from each grade who had read the most pages for another special reward. Together the top six readers read 12,000 pages!
