Grundy County Memorial Hospital has Certified Application Counselors available to assist members of the public with enrollment in the new health insurance program, which is offered under the government's Affordable Care Act.
People who are interested in learning how the new Health Insurance Marketplace applies to them may phone the hospital at (319) 824-5081 or toll-free 888-824-5081 to schedule a time to visit. There is no cost for the service, which is available Monday through Friday by appointment.
GCMH Social Worker Kristi Barnett, LSW, is one of the three hospital employees who have met the requirements to be Certified Application Counselors, and she encourages people to seek help with enrollment. "Health insurance coverage through the new Health Insurance Marketplace can be an overwhelming process for many people. Through our training, we can help individuals each step of the way," says Barnett.
With a March 31, 2014 deadline in place for individuals to have health insurance in place or risk penalties, Barnett encourages those who might benefit from the program to call for an appointment.
"We will meet with you one-on-one to answer questions about the Marketplace, help you learn whether you qualify for financial assistance, and explain available health insurance coverage options."
