Rebels Improve Despite Loss

The Rebels hosted the Spartans from Grundy Center on Thursday, Dec. 19 in Gladbrook. The young Rebels faced a very talented team but gained confidence in their skills and fought to the end losing 45-21

First quarter play saw the much taller and talented Spartans jump out to a sizeable 16-0 lead and frustrating the smaller Rebels in to taking bad shots. The second quarter saw the Rebels kick it up a notch and started to hit some shots as we out scored the Spartans 9-8, but still trail ing 24-9 at the half time break.

Beginning the third quarter, the Rebels were eager to continue their momentum as we played evenly throughout the period but still trailing 33-19. As both teams entered the final stanza playing time was the goal. The Rebels managed only one basket while the Spartans finished the game strong while playing all members of their team of fifteen. The final horn sounded with a 45-21 defeat.
